Hey dear folks…
I spun on ice and rolled the Honda Element I use to tour last night en route to Grand Junction. I did a slo-mo half roll and landed upside down on the shoulder of I-70.
I am uninjured. That would be enough to report on its own. That’s what matters.
My gear seems in good shape. It was predicted by the tow truck driver - who has experience in such matters, while I have literally never had an auto accident before - that the vehicle may be totaled because the roof is caved in a bit at the center of the shattered windshield.
Coming to rest upside down in the dark is good way to awaken the crocodile brain and test one’s grace & cool in the extreme. I do not recommend it.
I am safe, warm and dry in Avon, CO at the moment. From the moment the accident began to occur, I have felt surrounded and piled-on by angels.
Next steps include emptying the gear from the Element now at a wreck yard. Insurance adjuster will do their thing tomorrow at the earliest.
Dream case scenario is that the vehicle damage is repairable & limited to some bit of bodywork needed to do a windshield replacement so I get back in it and on the road in a few days.
Otherwise, the challenge will be to get into another vehicle in order bring more of the rock to more of the good people.
I am so grateful to be at 100% physically and spiritually.
I will keep updates coming.
